Let’s chat: #thewiggleshavemoreaustraliantourdatesthan5sos

Other than being the longest hashtag ever, I’m finding the whole thing fairly amusing.

5SOS did a live cross to the ARIAs last week, and announced a three date tour in Australia late next year. Yep, it was a bit awks, tbh.

Because let’s be completely honest, three shows (one in Sydney, Melbs and Brisbane) is not an Australian tour. That’s an East Coast of Australia tour. And coming from a band who are Australian, it’s a bit of a slap in the face for their Adelaide and Perth based fans, and everyone else in between. Naturally, the fans reacted accordingly, and BuzzfeedOz captured some of the best social media responses here. The highlight was undoubtedly the realisation that The Wiggles have more Australian Tour Dates than 5SOS, and thus the glorious hashtag was born.

The Wiggles quickly responded, and found themselves with legions of new fans across social media, which was a bit of a lol.

Faves Edition: Adam Elmakias

Hey WordPress, long time no talk. No time for excuses, let’s get down to it.

Today, we’re launching the Faves Edition. Funnily enough, it’s going to be a series where I talk about my favourite people and things. Knowing me, it’ll probs be fandom based, but who knows, let’s see where it takes us.

First up, let’s have a chat about Adam Elmakias.

If you like bands like All Time Low or Bring Me The Horizon or You Me At Six or Pierce the Veil or sometimes go to Warped Tour or watch the APMAs or read RockSound or Alternative Press, you’re probably familiar with Adam Elmakias’ work. He’s a pretty badass music photographer, and from his online presence, he also seems like a pretty rad dude.

Adam spends his time travelling the globe, photographing at festivals, gigs and all kinds of wonderful places around the world. He also runs a Youtube channel, writes a blog, hosts meet-ups and workshops, has just released a magazine and interacts with his fans on social media to a damn high level which is great (I think, anyway!).

Triple J’s One Night Stand: A Guide to Mildura

So, next weekend, Triple J are bringing their One Night Stand to my beloved hometown of Mildura. From the Triple J website:

We’ll be strapping on our floaties, booking our houseboats, and bringing the biggest party of the year to the regional centre in Victoria, which sits on the bank of the Murray river near the Victorian and New South Wales state border.¬†

Staring the party are a swag of great artists we announced on Tuesday:RÜFÜS, Violent Soho, The Jungle Giants, Illy and Dan Sultan, as well as one triple j unearthed band to be added from the Mildura region. More deets on that competition over at the Unearthed website.

triple j will broadcast the entire event LIVE on the radio, with Matt & Alexand Zan Rowe bringing you live sets and interviews from 2pm, and the whole concert will also be broadcast LIVE on ABC2 with hosts The Doctor, Linda Marigliano and Lewi McKirdy kicking things off from 7pm.

You can also jump in the front row via the on-stage streaming on the triple j website and complete the full multi-platform experience by checking out our online videos, photos, music streams and artist blogs. Plus you can catch up with One Night Stand performances on iView – so you can be part of the concert whenever and wherever you are.

We can’t wait to put on our water skis and take our friends around Australia to the town of MILDURA!

Pretty exciting stuff! Sadly, I won’t be making the trek back home to attend, but I’m sure it’ll be a great night. In the meantime, though, I thought I’d put together a little bit of a guide on the best of the best when it comes to visiting sunny Milcity. If you’re flying up, take a moment to appreciate how fancy the new airport is. Also, we have palm trees. Jelly?
