Let’s chat: #thewiggleshavemoreaustraliantourdatesthan5sos

Other than being the longest hashtag ever, I’m finding the whole thing fairly amusing.

5SOS did a live cross to the ARIAs last week, and announced a three date tour in Australia late next year. Yep, it was a bit awks, tbh.

Because let’s be completely honest, three shows (one in Sydney, Melbs and Brisbane) is not an Australian tour. That’s an East Coast of Australia tour. And coming from a band who are Australian, it’s a bit of a slap in the face for their Adelaide and Perth based fans, and everyone else in between. Naturally, the fans reacted accordingly, and BuzzfeedOz captured some of the best social media responses here. The highlight was undoubtedly the realisation that The Wiggles have more Australian Tour Dates than 5SOS, and thus the glorious hashtag was born.

The Wiggles quickly responded, and found themselves with legions of new fans across social media, which was a bit of a lol.

Get lost

Sorry for the lateness of this post! I’ve had a bit of time away from uni, studying and city life this week, which has been absolutely lovely. I had a kind of epiphany of sorts the other day, I suppose. I just came to the realisation that I’m actually feeling rather positive about my life at the moment. I’m so grateful for the incredible and inspiring people I have as friends and family; I’m thankful for the opportunities that have come my way; and I’m just so happy about things.

Of course, there are down days, times when I’m not feeling my best. But overall, lately, the good has definitely outweighed the bad and that in its own way is incredibly motivating and reassuring. I’m not quite there yet, but I’m slowly figuring out exactly what it is I want to do with my life, both personally and professionally, and I’m just feeling really quite lucky to find myself surrounded with people that are so supportive and determined in their own unique ways, as well as being able to draw inspiration and form relationships with people all around the world, through the wonders of the Internet and all that stuff.

Sometimes, you just have to let go of all the negativity and let yourself get lost for while. Get lost in things that make you happy, get lost in the people you love, get lost in life itself. Embrace the positive, create opportunities from the negative. Take the time to be happy, at least every now and then. You deserve it.

Have a nice day! x

Body Image Awareness Week

Hey everyone!

So, next week (September 1st-8th) is Body Image Awareness Week here in Australia. From the Butterfly Foundation

“Eating disorders and poor body image present a huge problem for both males and females across Australia and it is an issue that is often kept a closely guarded secret by sufferers. Body Image Awareness Week in September aims to raise awareness of these health threatening conditions and take the opportunity to celebrate our bodies – unique, diverse, strong and beautiful! So join with us and celebrate this important week in your own way.”

As some of you may already know, eating disorders and body image are important issues that are very close to my heart, and I’m a big believer in the importance of body positivity and positive self-image. I know everyone has good and bad days, but next week I’ll be trying to stay as positive I can about how I feel about myself. Last year, I made it my mission to post one Instagram photo each day or something I liked about myself, my body or something that in general was about body positivity, and I think I’ll be doing the same this year. The Butterfly Foundation are encouraging people to “Join the Revolution” during Body Image Awareness Week, so if you feel like jumping on board and being a bit more positive in the next week, please do! I might post up my instagram photos as part of an ‘I Like All The Things” post or something, perhaps.

You can find more info on the Butterfly Foundation here on Facebook.

Have a nice day!  x
